Why You Should Try Storing Your Beauty Products In The Refrigerator

We've been seeing a lot of beauty fridge photos on IG—they're pretty and they make one's skincare collection look organized. This led us to think: Should we really refrigerate our stash? Is a beauty fridge necessary in our lives? If you're asking yourself the same questions, here are some thoughts to ponder:

  1. Some beauty products go stale when exposed to heat.

It doesn't help that the Philippines weather is hot and humid all-year-round. Some formulas tend to oxidize when exposed to sunlight or when placed in a room with a warm temperature. Vitamin C serums and face oils tend to lose their efficacy when this happens. Certain items—those of natural origin or made in small batches—have a short shelf life.  Refrigeration can help keep your products stay fresh and potent.

  2. Skincare products feel better on the skin when cold.

Chilled eye creams, moisturizers, serums, and face masks are just some of the items that feel exponentially great when applied to the complexion. The cold texture soothes the skin and elevates the skincare experience.

  3. Not all products must be chilled.

Okay, before you transfer all of your skincare products to your fridge, read first our list of recommended items that are best chilled: Vitamin C serums, face oils, mists, eye creams, masks, organic products, face rollers, and nail polish.

  4. You don't need a fancy beauty fridge for cold storage.

A beauty fridge is pretty and all but it isn't *that* necessary. It was primarily invented for your convenience: When you have a beauty fridge, you wouldn't have to rush to the kitchen to grab your skincare products. If you're fine with walking out of your room before you do your regimen, storing your mists, serums, masks, and eye creams in a regular fridge will do.
