Hello, curly-haired Pinays! Here's a cool Curly Girl Method-approved tip you might want to try next: Diffusing. According to the CGM rules, heat-styling or blow-drying is a big no-no when you've got wavy and curly tresses. The hot air can over-dry your locks leading to frizzy curls! Diffusing, on the other hand, can help enhance the texture of your type 2, 3, or 4 hair. Read on to learn more about it.
What exactly is diffusing?
Okay, we've said earlier that blowdryers are the enemy, but using the diffuser attachment of your device will change ~everything~. It helps control the distribution of hot air to your locks os the cuticle layers won't be fried. Adios, frizz.
How do I use a diffuser?
Apply leave-in conditioner to damp locks (find the best one for your hair type here) for added moisture. Rake it in to spread all the good stuff. Hand-comb or brush your tresses to remove tangles. Then, massage styling gel (must be CGM-approved, too!) to help define curls. Stick the diffuser attachment on the blowdryer, blast cold air six inches away from your hair to let the gel set.
Then, target the air on your roots; you can flip your head if you want more volume. Once dry, concentrate on the ends and pressing it upwards to scrunch the curls. Do this step slowly to avoid frizzy and unruly hair. Repeat until your tresses are 80 percent dry.
Ta-da! You've now brought out your pretty and bouncy natural curls!
