Sometimes, it feels like our hair grows at such a ~glacial~ pace that we can't help but be impatient. (This is especially true if you're trying to get rid of your pixie cut.) It is, however, possible to grow long locks without rushing off to the salon to get Kylie Jenner-like extensions. YouTuber Alex Gaboury, who possesses a head full of shiny, lengthy tresses that we're very jealous of, shared her tips on how to make your locks grow out naturally. Keep on scrolling to read about her tips:
-
Space out time between washes.
Not shampooing your hair every day allows your scalp's natural oils to nourish and repair your locks. According to Alex, a good rule of thumb would be to wash your tresses every two to three days. It can be weird at first, so if you're not used to it just yet, dry shampoo is your best friend!

Find the right shampoo.
Using the right shampoo can make all the difference when it comes to growing out your hair. Get one with a sulfate-free formula because it is gentle on your locks and it won't dry them out.
-
Avoid using too much product.
During your designated washing days, make sure to not use too much product to prevent extra grease and buildup. According to Alex, two dime-sized dots are enough for your entire head, no matter how long your hair is. This is because you're only supposed to apply them to your scalp anyway and not the locks.
-
Use a conditioner.
The right conditioner also makes all the difference for your hair. Make sure to choose one that is sulfate-free and organic that won't weigh your locks down. Conditioners with rich formulas tend to make your tresses appear limp and lifeless.
-
Dry your locks using cotton shirts.
When it comes to drying out your hair, try to avoid using a towel as much as possible. Its material is abrasive, and it causes frizz and breakage when you rub it through your locks. A safer option would be to grab an old cotton t-shirt to absorb the excess water of wet tresses.
