For Pinays who have been struggling to make their pretty beach waves last all day, celebrity hairstylist Paul Nebres revealed the *key* technique to this hairstyling mystery. Paul Nebres' Secrets To Lasting Curls
Choose your hairspray wisely!
He revealed that loading up on hairspray won't do the trick as this will only weigh the hair down. He also shared that we have to look for the *right* hairspray formula. Some hairsprays trigger oil production in the scalp which may weigh the hair down. In an interview with Cosmopolitan Philippines, he explained, "Madami naman klaseng hairspray. There are plant-based hairsprays that won't produce oil."
A good hairspray trick he shared is to spritz on the brush to polish baby hairs. "Don't spray it directly, para 'di siya bibigat," he explained.

Use a hot tool that won't damage the hair
Paul also noted that using the right hair tool and following a specific curling technique is crucial in lasting waves and curls. "Para mag-last 'yung curl, you do the 'cold blast.' Ibaba mo lang yung temperature [ng hairstyling tool] to set the curl." His favorite curling tool is the Dyson Airwrap, as it has temperature controls. Plus, it doesn't heat-damage the tresses because it blasts hot air that only goes up to 90 degrees Celsius.
Paul went on to explain the humid weather in the Philippines contributes to our ~hairstyling~ challenges. "Our temperature is super humid. Mainit, malagkit... Kailangan talaga ng extra effort... Sobrang hirap magpatagal ng hairstyle, lalo na curls" he emphasized. "'Yung 'cold blast' talaga ginagawa ko. Binababa ko lang temperature, and bilang ng 10 seconds. Mas nagiging long-lasting," he expounded.
