If 2024 was the year of blush for makeup lovers, it was also a big year for hair products and trends. It seems everyone was invested in making sure their locks were shiny and soft as well as keeping up with the newest celebrity hairstyles—even copping the look for themselves.
So, whether you're considering donning a new look in 2025 or simply want to invest more in your grooming, we've listed the best hair trends and new hair care products of 2024 below.
The Best Hair Trends Of 2024
This year, hair trends were a dime a dozen. From trendy colors to popular haircuts, we weren't at a loss for options for achieving a new 'do.
Red Hair

It seems everyone was having their red-hair era this year. From BINI Mikha's flaming scarlet strands to Alexa Ilacad's burgundy locks, a lot of celebrities donned this classic yet striking hair color. We can't blame them—for a supposedly loud color, it surprisingly goes well with every outfit and adds that edgy charm.

Bob Cut
Short hair, don't care? A lot of celebs subscribed to this mindset when they chopped off their locks and rocked the jawline-grazing 'do. Some popular transformations include our Cosmopolitan Philippines December cover star Sofia Andres and Loisa Andalo. It's a convenient and chic way to refresh your look without doing anything too permanent—it'll eventually grow out!

Bunot hair
The comeback of the bunot hair a.k.a. the bowl cut wasn't on our 2024 bingo card, but here we are. What seemed to be a baduy choice in hairstyle suddenly became a viable option, thanks to the daring looks sported by Nadine Lustre and Anne Curtis at the start of the year. WDYT? Is it a yay or a nay in your book?

Hair serums and oils
Move over shampoos and conditioners, there's a new hair care duo in town! Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration—you should still wash your hair frequently—but we're not kidding when we say hair serums and oils were v popular in 2024. Classic products like the mise-en-scene Perfect Serum were raved about online for the lightweight, softening, and smoothing benefits these deliver.
While you can use both on any hair type, hair serums are particularly useful for people with color-treated or frizz-prone hair as these coat the outer hair cuticle and prevent moisture from getting in—which is great if your hair misbehaves when exposed to humidity. On the other hand, hair oils penetrate deep into the hair cuticle to nourish it from within so those with drier hair would love its benefits.
Hair Porosity
Beauty girlies were obsessed with learning about hair porosity, which is basically how well hair absorbs and retains moisture. That's because it also informs us which products will work best for our manes. TL;DR: High hair porosity calls for deeply conditioning (and heavier textured) products while low hair porosity requires lightweight hair oils and products. The more you know!
The Best Hair Care Products Of 2024
Now that you know which hair trends people were talking about this year, let's discuss the hair care products that found their way to people's shower caddies— into their daily hair care routine.

mise-en-scene Curling Essence 2X
For our girlies with curly locks, this hair essence was a godsend in achieving more defined curl patterns. You just had to apply a small amount from the mid-length to the ends of your tresses before styling to see the difference in how bouncy your curls look. It doesn't feel heavy on your tresses, either.

Shiseido Fino Premium Touch Hair Mask
Speaking of hair porosity, the Fino Hair Mask became a holy grail (once again!) for those with medium to high porosity hair.
