If there's one thing that's big on the beauty market RN, it would have to be blush. Tons of local and international brands have come out with their own iterations of rouge in different formulas. From powders, creams, liquids, and jellies—each release just further spurs the maximalist blush movement.

What is blush blindness?

It can be easy to go overboard when it comes to applying blush without even noticing. I've definitely become a victim of this many times in my life, with my rouge seemingly not appearing on my medium skin tone, causing me to pack even more on until I deem it to be enough. That is, until I take a picture and see just how putok my blush looks, LOL!

A number of TikTok users also share the same lighthearted sentiment. Enter, the term "blush blindness." It's a concept that refers to someone not being able to notice how much blush they're packing on, so they keep layering until the effect becomes noticeable to everyone but themselves.

According to TikTok, one of the main people guilty of having blush blindness is main pop girl Sabrina Carpenter, whose ultra-rosy cheeks have become something of a signature alongside her raunchy outros. Her Barbie-esque blush has gone viral on the platform, with many people trying to replicate it, especially after her go-to makeup artist revealed the exact products she used to create the look.

Although it may seem like her blush is a little OTT, I think that she looks good AF and that it goes along with her aesthetic! In fact, TikTok's main point of view seems to be: "If Sabrina Carpenter is blush blind, then so am I."

Although we've all been guilty of looking sunburnt à la Sabrina or looking like rice that had hotdogs resting on top of it—thank you, Sassa Gurl—I'm here to tell you that there's no such thing as being "blind" when it comes to doing your makeup. If packing on the blush makes you look and feel good, then why the hell shouldn't you do it? If it complements your features and goes well with your chosen outfit, then I say go ahead and bring on the flush.

As with all beauty trends, however, I'm sure that the sunburnt blush look will go and be replaced with yet another new blush trend (and then eventually return with a different name). I just know that I'll look back on my pictures from my early to mid-20s and cringe at my heavy-handedness, but in the meantime, I'll be packing on my rouge because it makes me feel good—blush blindness be damned.
