Ahhh, foundation. While we love its power to make our skin look super airbrushed and flawless, it also has a tendency to feel like a mask sometimes. In our humid weather, certain formulas can even melt off our faces! It's a good thing there are tons of alternatives that offer coverage yet don't sacrifice comfort. Below, we round up our favorite substitutes:
-
BB cream: Maybelline Fit Me Fresh Tint
Aside from lipstick, a BB cream was most probably one of our very first makeup items. It's not as heavy as a foundation, but it still provides sheer coverage that's easy to layer on if needed. This one from Maybelline is a favorite of many because it gets the job done sans the hefty price tag.

Cushion compact: Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control SPF 50 PA+++
In our opinion, one of the best K-beauty innovations is a cushion compact because it allows for easy retouching, especially when you're on the go. It also comes in different finishes to accommodate your skin type.
One of our favorites is the Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control SPF 50 PA+++. It can mattify the skin without looking flat! It also has a minty, cooling sensation upon application, which makes it a joy to reapply during hot summer days.

Powder foundation: Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation
If you find liquid bases to be too sticky or heavy for your liking, turn to powder foundations. Not only do they give you coverage, but they can also blur out your pores and keep your face matte for hours! Its compact form also makes it easy to carry around so you can retouch wherever you are.
For a local option, try the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation. It can be used either wet or dry, plus it has a Pinay-friendly shade range.

Skin tint: BLK Cosmetics Skin Tint Sun Shield SPF 30
Consider skin tints the more ~lightweight~ sister of the foundation. It can grant you a "your-skin-but-better" look sans the heavy feeling. It also may or may not contain SPF, though newer formulations make it a point to include it.
One option you can try is BLK Cosmetics' Skin Tint Sun Shield SPF 30. It will give your complexion a beautiful dewy, second-skin appearance. It's already infused with sunscreen, but make sure to also apply a separate one beforehand!

Tinted sunscreen: Belo SunExpert Perfecting Shield Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++
If you're looking for a lightweight makeup base that still offers sun protection, tinted sunscreens are your best bet. They are basically your regular ol' SPF but with just enough added pigment to even out your complexion.
The Belo SunExpert Perfecting Shield Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ is a cult favorite. It has a buildable formula that won't feel greasy as you reapply, plus it won't give you that ~dreaded~ white cast.
