Using a lip liner was never automatic for me. I always assumed it was for makeup artists or advanced makeup aficionados. A lip liner is a great way to enhance and define your natural lip shape, but I couldn't perfect it. I looked like a sad clown. :(

I missed out on lip liner's benefit which is to make lipstick last longer. Lip liner acts as a colored primer for your lipstick. It helps prevent your lipstick from feathering or fading. It also made sense why I had a hard time achieving the angelic makeup or baby doll look.
Thankfully, I found a step-by-step tutorial by Thai makeup artist's account, makeup.is.my.buddy. They showed how we can get that celebrity-approved angelic lip look.
How to use a lip liner to achieve the angelic makeup look:
- Start with a nude-colored lip. This will help bring out the pigments of your chosen lipstick.
- Choose a lip liner that is the same color as your lipstick.
- Start by lining your cupid's bow.
- Line the rest of your lips but don't line it all the way to provide dimension.
- Fill in the center of your lips with a lighter-colored lip liner to make your pout appear 3D and plump.
- Blend the lip liner using a lighter-colored lipstick in with your fingers or a lip brush.
- Apply bright-colored lipstick at the center for a popsicle-lip effect.
- Top with lip gloss if you're feeling extra.
- Lightly dust powder highlighter on the cupid's bow to boost your pout's glowy look.
