It's a universal truth: The leftover makeup on a sponge is damn hard to remove. No amount of baby shampoo or brush cleanser is enough to bring it back to its immaculate state.
Thankfully, Twitter user 2CHINZz posted a ~*genius*~ hack that restored her makeup sponge's pristine condition. As of writing, it has gained 9K retweets and 28K likes. Apparently, microwaving the egg-shaped sponge in soapy water for one minute does the trick!

Apart from getting rid of the foundation residue, this method also sterilizes the sponge, bidding breeding bacteria, bugs (!!!), and mold adieu!
She used a specific soap brand, but we believe any liquid cleansing agent that breaks down oils will work, too.
Also, if you find your sponge changed its shape, 2CHINZz says to let it air-dry to bring back its form.
