We know you're probs scared to try colorful eyeshadow, especially if you have morena skin (No thanks to an old belief that a caramel complexion can't complement a hue as bright as blue!).
But here at Cosmo.ph, we believe that your morena skin tone is the perfect canvas to play with and make colors *pop*!
So we turned to celebrity makeup artist Nikki Duque to give us tips on how to wear a few colors of the rainbow IRL, and we asked actress Kate Valdez to be our ~*Morena Muse*~. "I love colored eyeshadow looks, because of its very fun, fresh, and young vibe. There are no rules, no boundaries," Nikki said.
How can you make them wearable for every day?
"I think it's about choosing the right combination of eyeshadow shades to create wearable looks such as gold and brown, rose and champagne, and burnt orange and navy," Nikki explained.
"Always pair a color with a neutral. Remember to blend the eyeshadows well."
So, ladies, invest in a good eyeshadow blending brush! And don't forget to buff the edges out so your eye makeup looks seamless.
As for the rest of the face, Nikki recommended using universally flattering colors, like dusty pink or coral on lips and cheeks. "It's very youthful and fresh," Nikki emphasized.
The key elements you have to keep in mind are the following: 1) A good eyeshadow primer to keep the pigment vibrant all day. 2) A nice eyeshadow brush + blending skills. 3) Confidence! Lots of it.
Gen-Z Yellow
Wear the It Color of 2018 by dabbing a sheer wash of yellow shadow on lids and opening up the eyes with mascara. Pair it with a warm pink lipstick and a light swirl of bronzer on the cheeks. Not a fan of yellow? Try khaki instead.
Baby Blue
Yes, baby blue is sooo back from the 2000s! Here's how to make it more ~modern~: Pack on the pigment close to the lids, brush it up to your brows to create a dreamy look, and finish off with a pink lippie! Another cool option to try: Lilac.
~*Glossy*~
If you're afraid of color you can try glossy lids. Fake the slick finish with shimmery liquid eyeshadows, which ICYDK, are IN! You can also play with metallic powder shadows if you want to play it a bit safe. A warm caramel lipstick would be a great match.
