A thing to know about me: I love blush as much as the next girl does—even if I am still a victim of blush blindness, LOL—but I have to be very careful about the formula of the rouge I use. Since I have an oily skin type, powder blush is usually the way to go for me. Creams and liquids can only last on my cheeks for about a few hours max before my face's sebum production starts going into overdrive and the blush "disappears."
However, when Sunnies Face recently released the Blush On, a serum blush that delivers "long-lasting pigment" housed in the cutest packaging, I couldn't help it—I knew I had to snag one and try it out for myself. Now, is it really worth the hype? Read on to find out:

What is the Sunnies Face Blush On?
Described as a "long-lasting high-pigment liquid blush," the Blush On is Sunnies Face's first foray into liquid rouge. It has a serum formula that contains a blend of skincare ingredients like magnolia, peach, camellia, and hibiscus extracts that soothe and hydrate your skin while providing intense pigment.
It currently comes in seven shades: Cherub (carnation pink), Keen (nude peach), Bebe (rose pink), Papaya (fresh coral), Super Pink (vibrant pink), Lady (brick rose), and Trance (lilac mauve). It's priced at P545 for 4.2 g or 0.14 fl oz of product.
Of course, we can't gloss over its adorable component. Sunnies Face is known for its products with sleek, minimalist packaging, and the Blush On is no different. According to the brand, the globular transparent body was inspired by glass lamps from the space age era. V cool!

An honest review of the Sunnies Face Blush On
When I first spotted the Blush On at a Sunnies Face kiosk at a mall near our office, I was very tempted to get the shade Lady, a brick rose color. I've always been drawn to deeper hues for my blush, as I like how they show up immediately on my medium skin tone, but for Sunnies Face's newest drop, I decided to try something different. I picked up Bebe, a gorgeous rose pink.

For my day out with the Blush On, I decided to go for a more low-key makeup look to really let the product shine. After prepping my skin, I filled in my brows and brushed them in place, swiped mascara on my lashes, and used a glossy tint on my lips.
For my blush, I applied it using a dense blush brush for a more even application. I put one dot on each cheek and blended them onto my skin—I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do so! I used whatever was left on my brush and applied some on my nose for a cute, "I'm cold" look.

Whenever I use a liquid blush, I usually top it off with a powder blush to help set it in place, but for my experiment, I decided to go straight to setting my entire face with a translucent powder to really see how long it would last. To lock everything in place, I finished off my look with a setting spray.

It's buildable and easy to blend.
Confession: I hate it when liquid blushes are intensely pigmented and set immediately—if you're not careful, you'll end up with dots on your face that are hard to blend out. The Blush On's formula, however, is pigmented but its serum formula is forgiving enough that you can let it rest on your face for a bit before blending it out.
It gives you a natural glow after application.
I tend to avoid using highlighters, as I find that my natural oils already give me quite a sheen. The serum formula of the Blush On grants me a subtle, lit-from-within glow that doesn't look oily after application, which I can appreciate.
For someone with oily skin, it had decent staying power.
TBH, as an oily-skinned gal, I was worried that the Blush On wouldn't last on my cheeks. On the day of the experiment, I attended a work event in Mandaluyong and then I commuted to Marikina via the MRT and Move It—during the hellish rush hour, no less—to go to a family function. I was expecting that the blush would just disappear on my cheeks, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were still remnants of pigment on them. It wasn't as vibrant as it looked when I first applied it, but it was definitely still on there, albeit subtler.
However, I think that if you have oily skin and don't take the same precaution that I did—lock it in with setting powder—the blush might not last as long as it did on mine. If you have oily skin, I would recommend topping off the Blush On with a powder blush and then setting it with a setting powder and spray to really lock it in place!

Sunnies Face Blush On: Is it worth the hype?
First, the pros: I liked the current shade range of the Blush On, and I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that Sunnies Face releases more hues in the future, particularly reds. The packaging is also cute—you can always expect the brand to hit the component right out of the park! As for the formula, I liked how blendable it was and that it gave me enough time to work it on my cheeks without looking patchy.
My cons, however, is that the claim that it's long-lasting isn't necessarily true if you have oily skin. I think it would last better if you have normal or dry skin due to its serum formula. Its formula would also last longer if you don't spend too much time outdoors under the sun.
The price point might also be a con for some people. At P545 a piece for 4.2g of product, it's not the cheapest liquid blush on the market—there are cheaper alternatives that work just as well and may last longer on the skin.
