Let's get it straight: 2024 was the year of beauty, especially locally. A lot of the brands we love came out with new releases that had us running to add to cart immediately even if it wasn't a payday sale—they were just that exciting! From innovative formulas to big shade ranges, we were spoiled AF this year, and many of them even made it to our permanent repurchase list.
Let's take a look back at some of the biggest local makeup releases of the year that got our hearts (and wallets) racing. Keep on reading to learn more (or, y'know, just reminisce):
The Biggest Local Makeup Releases Of 2024
SOLA Foundation Primer
In 2024, we traded our heavy bases for lighter ones that still evened out the complexion—hence, our obsession with skin tints. SOLA Beauty's Foundation Primer gained a loyal fanbase this year within the local beauty community when it dropped due to its lightweight formula, performance on the skin, and pigmentation (it can cover redness and minor pimple marks). And despite being marketed as a skin tint, it also doubles as sunscreen and primer!
It originally came in just two shades (Light Beige and Sand Beige), but SOLA has since expanded the shade range to include Ivory Beige, Natural Beige, and Caramel Beige.

Colourette Cosmetics Second Base Everyday Concealer
After the success of the Colourette First Base Everyday Skin Tint, the brand took things one step further and released a matching concealer. With nearly the same inclusive shade range as its older sis, it's also made with skin-good ingredients like niacinamide, azelaic acid, and hyaluronic acid that will protect, soothe, and hydrate your complexion. It's no wonder everyone seems to love it—even the Cosmo team. *wink* (P.S. It was the winner for concealer at our Cosmo Beauty Awards 2024!)

Lovely Causemetics BEYONDBLUR Finishing Powder
This 2024, we were obsessed with powders to mattify our face—and make it look like we used the Instagram "Paris" filter, lol—which is why finishing powders were our go-to product. Lovely Causemetics' own iteration became a mainstay in many beauty girlies' kits this year, thanks to its blurring formula that gives the face an immediate soft-focus effect.
It's available in four flexible shades: Fair to Light, Light Medium to Medium, Medium to Tan, and Tan to Deep.

GRWM Cosmetics Face Card Collection
2024 was also the year of customizable beauty products—a win for the beauty girlies who love experimenting! GRWM Cosmetics' final launch of the year was also their biggest one, as the Heart Evangelista became the face of the collection. The Face Card Collection includes different eyeshadow and blush formulas, face powders, highlighters, and color-correcting creams. You can mix and match different products within the collection into a magnetic case that can house up to four regular-size pans or 16 (!) mini-size pans. (Check out the full collection here.)

blk cosmetics Daydream Dual Blush Palette
The local beauty girlies who have been eyeing the dual blush of Patrick Ta don't need to look any further because blk cosmetics came out with their own version of a blush duo palette this year. The Daydream Dual Blush Palette comes in either a cream and powder duo or a shimmer and matte duo, depending on your preferred look.
It comes in four shades for the cream and powder duo (Peach Cloud, Velvet Rose, Petal Blossom, and Dusk Dream) and two shades for the shimmer and matte duo (Dreamy Dahlia and Tutu Blush).

Happy Skin Jelly Blush
The beauty girlies had a lot to say about the Happy Skin Jelly Blush when it dropped earlier this year. It promised to deliver a soft, just-pinched effect on the cheeks with just a few taps. Others loved the dewy finish it left on the skin, while others had a harder time figuring out the learning curve of handling and applying a jelly formula. Whichever side of the spectrum you were on when it was released, there's no denying that it definitely got people talking.
It's available in four fruity shades: Pomelo, Peaches, Grape, and Raspberry.

Issy Mousse Lip Tint
We were big on lip tints this year—we had one (or two, lol) in just about every purse we own. However, despite how long-wearing they are because of the stain they leave, they can be a bit drying on the lips. Enter: the Issy Mousse Lip Tint, a velvety lip cream that provides full pigment on the pout and eventually leaves the most gorgeous just-bitten stain. Its whipped texture ensured comfort, while its shade range meant that everyone had a shade for them. Win-win!
It's available in 12 shades: Tickle, Slip, Teddy, Trap, Whip, Mischief, Bitten, Freaky, Fixation, Casual, Rogue, and Espresso.

Sunnies Face Lip Glaze
Aside from blush, another makeup product that's been living rent-free on everyone's minds this year is lip balm, specifically the ones with peptides on it. This 2024, one of the biggest ones to come out of the local beauty space was the Lip Glaze of Sunnies Face. It's a hydrating gloss that instantly delivers a sheer wash of color on the lips and a smoothing and plumping effect. It's also been re-released recently to come with a metal applicator for a more luxurious application experience.
It's available in four shades: Lucite, Coquette, Bonbon, and Tiramisu.
