I know this will sound vain, but I feel better when I wear makeup while doing tribute errands. It's no secret that getting groceries and other essential goods during the quarantine isn't a pleasant experience. Knowing that I still do the things that used to uplift my mood pre-pandemic makes the situation more bearable than it actually is.
Before the pandemic happened, I was always seen with a bold lipstick or bright lip tint. Now that I *need* to wear a mask whenever I go out, my skincare and makeup regimen has changed. Read to know more about "my protective mask" beauty routine.
Skincare
ICYDK, "maskne" is a thing, and you must prep your skin well before putting on a mask to prevent breakouts. Here are the products that worked for me so far:

Innisfree Bija Cica Balm - The friction caused by the mask results in breakouts, so I apply this gel-to-cream product around my mouth and on my cheeks. This has Centella Asiatica, an ingredient that soothes inflammation, provides lightweight hydration, and speeds up wound healing.
The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Face Mist SPF45 PA++ - I never skip sunscreen. The Body Shop sunscreen mist is my current go-to because it's convenient to use. It doesn't feel sticky and it absorbs really fast!
Beach Born Aloeha- This keeps my pout soft and hydrated underneath the mask.
BLK Skin Hydrating Ultra Fine Mist - A few spritzes of this will give me a refreshing boost. The yummy scent uplifts my mood, too—I can forget about the long lines for a few moments.
BLK Wondermelon Fresh Collagen + Vitamin E Makeup Removing Wipes - This one is handy especially when my face feels so malagkit! I wipe my forehead, cheeks, and neck to get rid of the sweat. This habit prevents zits from popping on my forehead, where I perspire the most.

Makeup
I can't believe I'm saying this but I've never paid more attention to my eye makeup ever since wearing a mask has become the norm. Here are the products I use:

BLK Creamy Paint in Feeling Peachy - I've always applied blush and tint on my cheeks and lips, but since those are out of the picture, I've been focusing on my eyes. I just dab this warm peachy paint on my lids for an au naturel look.
L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara - As I've mentioned earlier, it's all about eye makeup now so I never skip mascara. This one is guaranteed to be waterproof and it can make the curl last all day.
Shu Uemura Brow Sword Eyebrow Pencil - This brow pencil has a sweat-proof formula. I won't have to worry about my kilay fading away after perspiring.

The takeaway
It's true that it feels odd to put on makeup or even dress up to leave the house. The global health crisis is real, and everything right now is uncertain. Personally, I put on makeup and carry kikay essentials in my bag to cope. This habit, although it may seem superficial to some, gives me a sense of comfort that there are still things I have control of.
