These days, more and more celebrities and influencers are becoming more open about getting plastic surgery. Just recently, vlogger-slash-TikTok star Jen Barangan shared her own experience of undergoing rhinoplasty (a.k.a. nose job) in her latest vlog.
Before going under the knife, the 28-year-old content creator had a non-surgical nose job back in 2021. This process involves inserting fine threads along the nasal bridge to lift it up, along with the tip of the nose. "I was really happy with the result," she shared in her vlog. "Now, I finally decided to [get a nose job] but this time, it's gonna be surgical."
Admittedly, Jen said, "Kinakabahan talaga ako." In fact, she thought about whether or not she should get plastic surgery for "almost a year." But after gaining her mom's support, doing extensive research, and saving money, she decided to go for it. "I know [that] this is my body, [and] I get to decide whatever I want to do with my body, but of course, I had to respect my mama."
Jen documented the day she got the surgery up until her recovery phase. "Everything happened so fast," she shared. "The procedure only took an hour." She was also asleep the entire time. "Since I was sedated, I felt zero pain."
Jen got a closed rhinoplasty. According to Healthline, this surgical procedure can "correct dorsal humps and narrow the nose tip or bridge of the nose."
A day after the surgery, the content creator experienced swelling, which is completely normal. "Nag swell yung buong muhka ko." A few days later, she also had dark bruising underneath her eyes. "It'll get worse before it gets better," she reminded herself.
Currently, Jen is in her recovery phase. 18 days after the surgery, she shared that a part of her nose is still swelling. She also clarified that it really takes up to six months until one can "appreciate" the results of a nose job.
Towards the end of her vlog, she also explained that she's sharing her journey not because she's "promoting plastic surgery." Instead, she's dedicating it to those who are thinking of going under the knife but are "too conscious of what other people might say."
"No matter what you do, people will always have something to say," she said. That said, "[You] might as well do things that make you happy, as long as you are not stepping on anyone and you are using your hard-earned money. You deserve to be happy."
