Jessi is one of the Korean celebrities who has always been vocal and confident, and this is why she's loved by her fans. However, there's a time when she cried because of how she looks and it happened after she went under the knife.
In an episode of MBC's Radio Star, the Korean solo artist opened up about getting plastic surgery and admitted that she had rhinoplasty and double eyelid surgery done. According to her, she looked like a "monster" after the procedures. "After the surgery, my face broke my heart. I instantly asked the surgeon to get rid of the stitches. After about a year, the swelling naturally settled down. Some asked me whether I had another surgery to tone down the swelling."

In a separate interview, Jessi explained more about the surgery. The K-pop star said that she did it when she arrived in South Korea (ICYDK, Jessi was born in New York and raised in New Jersey before making the big move) but she has regrets.

Years after her revelation, Jessi shared in an episode of SBS' funE that she's now satisfied with her appearance sans the fillers. "I really like this. I've tried what I'm doing now, I've taken it out, and this is good. I can't be perfect."

Jessi is a runner-up from the rap competition, Unpretty Rapstar, and she has come a long way ever since her stint in the show. She's the first artist to sign under PSY’s label, P Nation, whom she mentioned as someone who gave her the go signal to be herself in her song, "NUNU NANA."
Apart from being a hip-hop queen, Jessi is also an ace in variety programs. She's the host of MBC's Showterview With Jessi on YouTube and is a mainstay in tvN's The Sixth Sense.
