Catching up with Laureen following the pregnancy announcement on the BYLZ launch with Lazada on November 7, she quipped that she and Liz have always been close and had that sister connection. "Just now that I'm pregnant, it's a new chapter in terms of all my questions, 'cos before it has always been about family and fashion, and like all the others but now it's a plus with mom questions."

Laureen, who is in her second trimester, shared that she is just grateful she has both her mother and sister Liz who support her in her pregnancy.

Liz's Pregnancy Tips For Laureen

Having such a style star for an older sister, Cosmo asked Laureen if Liz had any beauty or style tips she passed down to her for this pregnancy journey. Laureen quickly chirped, "Yeah! She gave me Bio Oil, the first week she found out I was pregnant. She said na it's really what saved her with all of her stretchmarks."

Apart from that, Laureen said she's generally just more careful of the products she uses now. Because not all ingredients are safe for expecting mothers. Bio Oil being among those she applies.

What is Bio Oil?

Bio Oil is a dry skin gel that has undergone safety assessment by qualified toxicologists, classified safe for use by children over three years old and pregnant and lactating women. Use of the product can address skin issues such as scars and stretch marks among others.

Because of its ingredients that can help smooth uneven skin, it has become a rather "holy grail" product for pregnant women. And it appears this includes Liz Uy and soon, maybe Laureen, too. Some experts also say that it not only helps with the scars, but it also has anti-inflammatory properties through chamomile and sunflower oils. "They calm irritation and inflammation in the skin," said board-certified dermatologist Dr. Rachel Nazarian

But while Bio Oil is slowly becoming a cult favorite skin care product, there are still no scientific or research-based evidence supporting any of the claims. So far, all the rave on the product comes from anecdotes from its users, like Liz.
