You can do it yourself in case you feel self-conscious about having another person looking at your downstairs department. And last but not the least, it’s waaay cheaper than other body hair removal methods.

And in case you’ve never tried it before, there’s bound to be some itch and discomfort when the hair begins to grow back.

How to Properly Shave Pubic Hair
-
Give your pubes a trim
...especially if it’s your first time shaving pubes, trim the hair first before taking out your razor. This step will reduce tugging and prevent long strands from getting stuck in between the blades as you shave.
-
Clean and exfoliate your bikini area
Washing and cleaning the pubic area is crucial to prevent rashes and other forms of skin irritation. Take the extra step of gently exfoliating down there with a loofah to buff off dirt and dead skin cells. This should help you get the smoothest shave ever.

Use a clean, sharp razor
It might make sense to think that a dull razor would be good for shaving pubes since it’s less likely to give you a cut. But trust us on this one: Using a sharp razor would always lead to better results. It would get the job done in fewer swipes preventing chances of redness, would give a more even and smoother shave, and would actually lead to fewer cuts or nicks if any.

Shave in the direction of hair growth
Hold your skin taut and move the blade over your skin following the direction of hair growth, not against it. Avoid putting too much pressure on the razor so as not to cut yourself. And of course, take your time to make sure you reach every nook and cranny.
-
Rinse
Once you’re done, wipe off the excess shaving cream and rinse the area. Make sure to pat it dry with a clean towel.
-
Moisturize and soothe
After shaving, your pubic area might feel a little sensitive or raw. Soothe and calm the skin by applying a gentle moisturizer or a fragrance-free lotion. Just check that the product you’re using doesn’t contain any harsh actives or acids and that the formula is non-comedogenic to prevent irritation.
At this point, all that’s left to do is to avoid wearing tight underwear for the next few hours to let your skin breathe, and you’re done! Doesn’t sound too complicated, does it?
