I get it, the Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night—its Super Bowl even! The head-turning gowns, sickening suits, and statement-making accessories are the stars of the show. But, as your beauty editor-at-large here at Cosmo, I must remind you of fashion’s supporting star…beauty! Makeup, hair, and nails, oh my!
And IMO, the best beauty moment at this year’s 2024 Met Gala came courtesy of Zendaya. I mean honestly, this chick can do no wrong. She consistently shows up and shows out!

Zendaya stuns in Met Gala 2024
The first thing that stole my heart was her super-intense smokey eye, which paired perfectly with her overly embellished Maison Margiela gown. The Challengers actor reimagined the classic all-black look with a halo effect using a berry-hued eyeshadow. The eye is framed by a micro-thin brow that had to be painted on with crazy precision.
The eye makeup is only rivaled by the Lancôme ambassadress’s stunning oxblood-colored lips—and it was glossed to perfection. Normally, pairing such a bold eye and lip could be overkill, but this duo screamed “slay!”
And speaking of high-key slayage, the look was pulled together by Z’s hair and headpiece. Famed celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen, who crafted the coif using Living Proof products and Dyson tools, was inspired by the calla Lily flower.

“It was all about less is more—a very subtle and delicate beauty,” Stephen told Cosmo.
But simple doesn’t mean it lacked creativity. Stephen says that she made sure the shape of the chignon was “giving interesting” and seamlessly blended into the round netted cap that spiraled into the air. The wisps of hair floating at her edges were also given much attention and give the ultimate effortless-chic touch.
“I really love working with Z and Law [Roach] because they totally get it. They aren’t trying to compete with anyone. They know what works,” Stephen explained to Cosmo. She clearly does too!
I could go on and one and on (!!), but you get the point: Zendaya came to own the 2024 Met Gala red carpet (she even wore a second look), and she did just that! So, it only made sense I crown her with the best beauty moment of the night!
