Let's start with the scary bit: the movie 13 Going on 30 came out in 2004, which means that you first fell in love with it 12 years ago. Once you've digested all of those "Am I old?" feelings, just be glad that you're now of the age to book yourself a flight to New York, because the rom-com is being turned into a musical on Broadway.
Deadline reports that a team has begun adapting it into a show, with "all the elements of a great musical: comedy, romance, an empowering message—and a touch of magic," says producer Andy Flickman.
If, for some reason, you haven't seen the film, it shows a 13-year-old Jenna using "wishing dust" to become a grown-up, played by Jennifer Garner. The rom part of the rom-com comes in when she tries to reconnect with her childhood best friend, Matt, portrayed adorably by Mark Ruffalo.
The movie actually lends itself very well to a musical, and while it's said that most of the music will be original, we're hopeful that "Thriller" will still be there:
That might just happen. Apparently, licensing the track—plus others—has not been ruled out, which could mean the sleepover scene may be pulled off flawlessly, as well.
We can't wait.
