Alexa Gutierrez, wife of Elvis Gutierrez of the celebrity clan, has passed away after a battle with leukemia, her sister-in-law Ruffa Gutierrez announced on July 28, 2024.
"I am still trying to process and accept that you are no longer with us. It’s so hard…Words cannot express how heartbroken and shocked I am," the actress said on IG.
The actress continued to write loving words for Alexa, signifying how close their bond was as sisters. "I love you so much my beautiful, irreplaceable Alexa. You will forever be in my thoughts and in my heart. Until we cross paths again..." Ruffa wrote.
Alexa was the wife of Elvis Gutierrez, Ruffa's younger brother. Alexa and Elvis have two daughters, Aria and Ezra. It was only this year when the Gutierrez family disclosed Alexa's condition to the public.
Alexa battled the illness with grace and strength, and she sought to inspire others despite the trial on her health.
"Leukemia Warrior. An ordinary mom strengthened by shield of Faith & Sword of Spirit. Hope to encourage HIS words to others," Alexa said in her IG bio.

Ruffa Gutierrez's message of support for Alexa Gutierrez in January 2024
In January 2024, Ruffa penned a heartfelt message for Alexa. Ruffa described her as a "leukemia warrior with a brave beautiful soul."
"Lex, you are such a positive, courageous, beautiful, and strong human being! I know you can beat this. God has a great plan for you," she said in her post as she also asked for everyone to send prayers of healing for Alexa.
The actress declared their love and support for their family member in this difficult time they're enduring, "We love you and will walk with you through every step of this journey. Continue to be in high spirits. You’re not alone."
Following Ruffa's post, Alexa had been very open and appreciative of the people sending her love and support as she fought for her life. In one of her earlier posts, she shared a candid and no-filter photo of one of her states as a leukemia patient. "I’m so overwhelmed and overjoyed reading all your messages, " Alexa began in her post.
"Tears of joy reading all your love and support. I wish I could reply to each one of you and tell you how I feel and that I see God in all of you. For now, here I am no makeup, no filter. Just happy with my results for today," she furthered.
Back in January 2024, Alexa had the chance to enjoy a fun holiday trip to Japan with the Gutierrez family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Alexa's family and friends.

What is leukemia?
Mayo Clinic defines leukemia as the cancer of the body's blood-forming tissues. It usually involves the white blood cells, which are set to fight infection in our bodies. However, people diagnosed with leukemia have an excessive amount of "abnormal white blood cells." Hence, these cells do not function properly.
How does leukemia start?
According to Moffitt Cancer Center, the main combination of genetic and environmental factors that can cause leukemia in our bodies is still undetermined. What scientists know is that our bodies could undergo mutations or "leukemic changes" that might lead to unhealthy cells outnumbering healthy cells within the body. Basically, when unhealthy cells outnumber the healthy ones, it malfunctions.
