Tattoos are not just art on your body, they also commemorate one of the many chapters in the story of your life. Andi Eigenmann has been proving all along how tattoos have a special place in her heart, especially her latest one: her palm leaf tatt.
It was a tattoo dedicated to her nanay, the late actress Jaclyn Jose. The actress shocked the nation with her untimely passing last March 2, 2024. And so a few days before her mother's first death anniversary, Andi made the meaningful gesture of sharing her new way of paying homage to her mother's memory to the world as well.
In an Instagram post, Andi detailed the special meanings behind her palm leaf tattoo. She wrote, "Indicative of multiple meanings all relating to the facets of her being that I would also like to embody."
The first one is strength. Andi describes her mother to be someone who had remained strong throughout her life, and for Andi, it was the most admirable thing about Jaclyn.
The palm leaf also symbolizes victory which was something that she had always seen in her mother. Jaclyn was known for her impactful acting that made all her roles memorable for most Filipinos. "Growing up was special, witnessing someone first-hand, constantly refining her craft, always striving for excellence in doing what she loved most. Her dedication to evolving in her art was a testament to her passion," she said in her post.
Andi also recalled how her mom was the first Filipina to win the Palme d'Or for Best Actress in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Andi even came with Jaclyn to personally receive the award in the globally renowned film festival. "I'll always cherish this moment and the fact that she chose to share this with me," Andi added in her dedication message on IG.
Last but not least, her new tattoo will be a sign of her mom's life in her. "Eternal life. As she will always and forever live in me," she wrote.
To end her post, Andi shared her sentiments about grief and moving on from the loss of a loved one. "As grief changes me, I would like to carry these facets of who she was, alongside those of mine that I know she always loved. This journey of grief has been long and tough, and quite frankly, sometimes dark. But I believe that the love you showered me with should be enough to trust that I will again see the light," Andi concluded.

Jaclyn's talent agency, PPL Entertainment Inc. first released the news about Jaclyn's death last year. "It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck). More details will be shared as soon as they are available," the agency's statement read. PPL Entertainment asks netizens to give Jaclyn's family due respect and privacy.
Two days after her demise, Andi spoke to the press confirming that Jaclyn died due to myocardial infarction or heart attack. "Her undeniable legacy will definitely forever live on through her work, through her children, through her grandchildren, and the many lives she's touched. She herself, her life itself was her greatest obra maestra," a tearful Andi stated.
