This is truly the week to have a secret wedding if you’re a celebrity because just two days after news dropped of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s surprise I-Dos in Las Vegas, it looks like Anya Taylor-Joy has potentially married her boyfriend Malcolm McRae.
Sources tell Page Six that Anya and Malcolm made it official during an “intimate courthouse wedding” in the U.S. before they flew back to Australia so that Anya could film her Mad Max: Fury Road prequel. Annnnnnd, that's basically the extent of what we know!
Anya and Malcolm have been dating since March 2021 ish, and aside from some highly chic (but also kinda rare) red carpet appearances, the couple tend to be pretty quiet about their relationship. Back in 2018, Anya told The Guardian, "There’s a beauty in being anonymous, there’s a reason why we’re actors…we’re playing other people, so I think the idea of someone being interested in me—I’m quite a private person—is a bit daunting but I try not to think about it." Fair enough!
Anya did open up a bit about Malcolm in early 2022, though, telling British Vogue "I’ve finally found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading. We’re basically 80 years old and seven at the same time and it works really well."
Malcolm and Anya haven’t confirmed reports that they’re married, but assuming all the rumors are true…congrats!
