Bea Alonzo is indisputably a household name in Philippine show business. With two decades of experience and a handful of awards and nominations under her belt, the 34-year-old actress has proven just how much of a powerhouse she is.
Despite all this though, Bea admits that her star didn't always shine this bright. In fact, there was a time when she struggled to build any confidence for herself at all.

On a vlog by fellow Kapuso actress Kyline Alcantara, Bea recalls how insecure she felt as an ingenue in the industry. "Mga kasabayan ko [noon] sina Anne [Curtis], sina Angel [Locsin], they were all so hot, confident, [and] beautiful. Parang naisip ko [na] parang di ako nakakasabay," she says.

"I [was] struggling with my weight loss before," she then mentions. The multi-hyphenate star has previously shared how she grew up being body-shamed for her figure, and that she eventually overcame such experiences by fully accepting the body she has. She goes on to say, "parang na-realize ko na yung confidence comes from really loving yourself."

Further explaining the sentiment, Bea remarks that, "Confidence roots from not only accepting what your strengths are, but also accepting your weaknesses. Parang [in] celebrating it, feel ko nawawalan ng power yung shame, or [what you're] fearful of, kapag in-embrace mo siya, pag in-acknowledge mo."

Overall, her advice for anyone wanting to become more self-confident can be summed up in three simple words: "Just be yourself." Hear, hear!
