Once again, a Filipina reigned in the international pageant scene as Nicole Borromeo won third runner-up for the recently held Miss International 2023!
The 22-year-old beauty queen captured the hearts of everyone in the competition that was held in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. And of course, we Filipinos extended our love and support for Nicole. To celebrate her crowning moment, we're listing down all the things that made her shine even brighter as a Filipina.

1. Nicole's incredible winning answer
It's a usual scenario for a beauty queen to be asked about their advocacies and plans to contribute to a better future for the world. May it be through answering issues about politics, poverty, health, or the environment, a beauty queen knows how to answer these questions well.
For some supporters, Nicole encountered a difficult question—it was about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations. Nonetheless, Nicole surprised everyone with how knowledgeable she was of the topic given to her.
"The Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs by the United Nations have targets that are set to be achieved by 2030. What have you done so far in terms of SDGs initiative?" the judge read during the competition.
Nicole did not disappoint! Here's her inspiring answer:
"As someone who experienced the wrath of natural disasters, home is everything. I have worked tirelessly with Habitat for Humanity and the SDG's goal number 11 of sustainable cities and communities. It is through this volunteer work that I could see in the faces of the children how much they wanted to help, how much they wanted to be a part of the future. Because when it comes to sustainability, we must keep in mind that it's not only for the next generation, but to include them in the process."

2. Nicole's mermaid goddess final look
Nicole looked like a mermaid goddess in her majestic, final look at this year's Miss International pageant. She wore a sparkly, aquatic-inspired gown made by Pinoy designer Furne Amato.

3. Nicole's super cute and fun walk sporting her national costume
Nicole's national costume was inspired by a sea creature called a sea urchin. Her outfit designed by Axel Que was accentuated by colorful hand-sewn sequins. She flaunted it on stage with a really fun walk, as if she were a sea urchin in the sea.

Ever since her Binibining Pilipinas stint in 2022, Nicole has been turning heads because of her wit and charm as a woman. She is young and knows how to present fresh ideas and fresh takes on the table as a beauty queen!
5. Nicole's love for her family
Nicole is a loving person to her family and she's not denying it. After winning the Binibining Pilipinas pageant in 2022, she posted a heartfelt thanks to her whole family for the unwavering support they've given to the young beauty queen.
