If there's a K-pop group you can rely on when you're sad, trust BTOB to wipe your tears and tell you that things will be okay—may it be through their songs or their funny personalities. Hailed as healing-dols (a combination of the words "healing" and "idols"), and ballad kings in the K-pop industry, BTOB made their debut on March 21, 2012, and has since released several group, unit, and solo albums dedicated to their fans.
With solid vocals, melodic raps, live-only performances, and self-composed songs, the group has already proved that their name is *the* genre and that no matter what your mood is, there will always be a BTOB song for you. So lo and behold, here are seven BTOB songs that you can listen to in every challenge you face:
BTOB songs for new fans
1. "It's Okay"
The song that started BTOB's journey as ballad singers, "It's Okay" is a healing song which—as what the title suggests—will remind you that even if the situation is not ideal, things will eventually get better as long as you keep on trying. This is the perfect track to listen to if you're having a bad start to your week. We hope you also find this song as an escape from the stress that life brings. Remember: BTOB ~believes in you.~
"Is your shoulder heavy?
It’s not easy to put down a heavy weight
Someone told me if you feel that your dream is becoming further away
Take a break"
2. "Missing You"
If you ask any Melody (the name of their fandom) what song they'll most likely recommend to a new fan, we can guarantee you that "Missing You" is at the top of their list. With its amazing arrangement, lyrics, and unique choreography (the boys incorporated sign language in the chorus), the title track for their second full album became a national anthem among fans, non-fans, and even K-pop idols. In fact, this song is even hailed as the queen in the fandom because it gave BTOB seven music show wins and several year-end award nominations! Not to mention that it lasted on the charts for 87 (!!) weeks. Until now, it still trends in Korean music sites despite it being released in 2017.
"Even if I say that it'll be alright
At the end of my day, it always ends with you
I'm still here even though I thought that I couldn't live without you
But it's a little empty, maybe I'm still there"
3. "Show And Prove"
A sunbae (senior) in the K-pop industry joining a survival show? Contrary to what others wanted, BTOB joined Kingdom: Legendary War as a way to share another side of BTOB— and that's what they showed and proved *wink* all throughout the competition especially with their self-composed finale song, "Show And Prove." The single tells that even if they're already in the industry for a decade, they still have what it takes and that everyone should pay close attention to them because they’ll keep on growing.
"Ladies and gentlemen
Make sure to pay close attention
Mouths closed, eyes and ears open
And most importantly, enjoy the show"
4. "Dreamer"
If there's a song that will push you to follow and not give up on your dreams even if you think it's already too late, then it's definitely this track. "Dreamer" is a b-side single from BTOB's 4U: Outside album. It's a feel-good song that will give you all the feels, especially once the pre-chorus hits.
"Even if I can't see everything in front of me and the world stumbles
We need to be stronger, oh baby, gain strength
When things don't go as you want them to and they keep falling apart
Ride the flowing time
Do what you wanna do"
5. "MOVIE"
While everyone knows that BTOB are the masters of ballad songs, they actually released a lot of dance singles—one of which is the title track for their Feel 'Em album, "Movie." As performers with big personalities, this is the song that screams BTOB because it really showcases their musical abilities (aka the song is high-pitched) and personalities: From the music genre being funk-pop, the choreography being so carefree, up to the music video that showed their beagle-dol charms by acting as movie characters.
"Please take me before it's too late
As soon as the wound in your heart heals
I’ll be your man rather than anyone else
That you'll be my last love"
6. "Friend"
A song that was composed by one of their members and is dedicated to his group? *cue tears* "Friend" is a pre-release track from BTOB's Hour Moment special album and it's proof that their brotherhood is unbreakable. Fun fact: When the teaser for this song was released, the fandom was in chaos as soon as we heard Eunkwang's voice. We didn't expect him to be part of this album because of his enlistment!
"We're not blood-related but there's nothing much different
Got each other's backs no matter what happens
When I'm down when I'm up no matter the situation
What I'm sure about is that I can always count on ya"
7. "The Song"
After almost three years without a group comeback because of their military enlistments, BTOB returned with the highly anticipated third full album Be Together with another self-composed title track, "The Song." The song (we hope you're not confused yet!) is a lyrical ballad highlighting BTOB's musical growth. It revolves around everlasting love and how they want to stay and sing for their fans for a long time.
"As long as we keep singing
There’s no end to our songs
At the end of the tiring day
This is The Song that will hug you
Remember this voice that is for you"
