BTS is celebrating yet another victory because their album Love Yourself: Answer has become the first South Korean album to spend a whole year on the Billboard 200.
According to a report by Soompi, Love Yourself: Answer re-entered the Billboard 200 chart, landing on the 165th spot. Since the album’s re-entry into the chart, the album has spent 52 nonconsecutive weeks on the Billboard 200.
The album, which was released in August 2018, features the title track “IDOL.” It debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 1 on September 8, 2018.
In addition, the boys’ success continues to skyrocket. A report showed that BTS sold 5.9 million albums this year alone, with Map of the Soul: Persona selling close to 3.7 million albums! These numbers come from a popular community forum that compiled album sales data for the year.
In August 2019, the seven-piece K-pop boy group composed of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook won “Best K-pop” and “Best Group” at the MTV Video Music Awards.
