Just in: BTS is set to fulfill their military service, as announced by BigHit Music.
On October 17, the K-pop boy group's label shared a statement to stock investors saying that the oldest member Jin will be the first to join the army.

BTS' military enlistment
"Jin will revoke his request to delay his conscription at the end of this month and will follow conscription procedures required by the Military Manpower Administration. Other members will fulfill their military duty in turn according to their individual plans," BigHit Music shared. Here's their full statement, where they also mentioned BTS' future plans as a group:

Why is military enlistment mandated in South Korea?
ICYDK, South Korean men—from ordinary citizens to high-profile celebrities—are mandated to render service to the military for two years once they reach the age of 28 years old, in case something happens between the South and the North. This means that their studies and careers are put on hold in order to abide by the law. However, Korean athletes and classical musicians who've brought pride to the country as Olympic medalists and competition winners are exempted.

In the past months, fans have openly wished that this treatment be extended to the BTS members for introducing South Korea to a global level. For quite a long time, they have been pushing for a military exemption for the group, which has sparked discussions.
