Okay guys, one of the girlhood pillars of our teenage Disney Original-obsessed years is officially (and finally) getting married to the love of her life. Selena Gomez just announced to the world that she just said yes to forever with American producer and songwriter, Benny Blanco.
On December 12, 2024, the renowned singer-actress (also now a Golden Globe nominee!!) posted on Instagram snaps of her wearing a diamond ring. She captioned her post with, "forever begins now.." It was so beautiful!
Selena and Benny started dating in the middle of 2023 and they did it as privately as possible. But well, Selena's Instagram posts didn't go unnoticed by her fans (and some nosy online citizens). Rumors and speculations about them circulated way before Selena announced her relationship with Benny.
But it was in December 2023 (exactly a year ago!) that Selena was found to have defended her romance with Benny. Selena expressed her thoughts about her beau in the comments section of one of her fan pages. She wrote in successive comments, "He is my absolute everything in my heart [...] Then why has he been the best thing that's ever happened to me. The end [...] lol yeah and he's still better than anyone I've ever been with. Facts."
She almost called out one of her fans who appeared to be doubting her decision to date Benny. Selena boldly spelled out, "I don't understand. If you actually care about me. This is my happiest. [...] But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever. I'm done. If you can't accept me in my happiest then don't be in my life at all."

Celebrities express support for Selena Gomez's engagement with Benny Blanco
Despite everything that others have said and done, Selena and Benny have remained strong for over a year now. Their relationship might've been one of the most talked about when it started, but at the moment, Selena is over the moon with their status: soon-to-be husband and wife!
Along with Selena, her friends from the entertainment world are all-out supportive of their engagement. After all, it's really a huge step for the former child actress. Almost everybody has seen Selena grow up to be the woman she is now, and seeing her getting married was something that most of her family and friends wished for her real soon.
One of the first celebrities to express their excitement for Selena's upcoming wedding was Taylor Swift. ICYDK, Taylor and Selena are the OG besties—they are each other's ride-or-die. There was no need for Taylor to spell out "congratulations" in her comment. Instead, the award-winning singer directly commented, "yes I will be the flower girl," to Selena's engagement post. Aside from Taylor, more Hollywood stars came to wish happiness for Selena and her fiancé. FRIENDS icon Jennifer Aniston said (you have to read this in her voice, OK?), "HONEY!! Congratulations sweet mama!"
Another Hollywood icon, this time from the criminal TV series, Law & Order, Mariska Hargitay joins in the fun and comments, "congratulations," with the dancing emojis and hearts!
The Vampire Diaries star, Nina Dobrev was also one excited friend for Selena and Blanco. She wrote with all the feels in the world, "YES!!!! Congratulations!!!!! So happy for you both!!!!"
Emily in Paris lead actress, Lily Collins made way to voice out her excitement for the couple. She called Selena and Benny's engagement the best news ever. "Ahhhhhhh yes yes yes!! Best news ever. Couldn't be more happy for you both."
Her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, Martin Short and Steve Martin also gave their heartfelt congratulations to the couple. With a photo of the three of them, Steve captioned it with, "Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles." Selena herself replied to the post, saying, "You are the best weirdo a gal like me can have!" Aww, how cute!

Eagle-eyed followers also spotted Hailey Bieber dropping a like on Selena Gomez's post announcing her engagement. Hailey, of course, is married to Justin Bieber (and just gave birth to their son!), who was previously in an on-off longterm relationship with Selena.
