Last March, we first heard the news about a Pinay who's training to be a K-pop idol. This time around, it's been confirmed that Chantal Videla is set to debut as a K-pop idol in June!
MLD Entertainment, the agency behind the famous girl group MOMOLAND, confirmed that Chantal will be one of the members of the agency's upcoming group called LAPILLUS.
In an interview, MLD Entertainment CEO Lee Hyung Jin revealed that LAPILLUS will be making its debut in June and said, "It consists of members who speak Spanish, English, Tagalog, Chinese, and Japanese." The CEO also said that the remaining members of LAPILLUS will be revealed starting later this month.
Chantal, who will go by her stage name Chanty, will also be joined by former Girls Planet 999 contestant Nonoka Shana. The two members have been pretty active on MLD Entertainment’s YouTube "NADOL" series where the two girls introduced themselves as foreign trainees hoping to make a name for themselves in the K-pop scene. Chantal's latest appearance on the channel is a bag raid where she gave a peek inside her super organized handbag!
Chantal is no stranger to the entertainment business. She first launched her career as an actress as part of Star Magic Circle batch 2018 and has appeared in teleseryes such as Spirits: Reawaken, Hiwaga ng Kambat, and the comedy film Familia Blondina. She last appeared in the 2019 teleserye Starla.
