In a highly conservative country like the Philippines, cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery are still considered *taboo.* Although several personalities have unapologetically admitted to going under the knife, we still have a lot to work on when it comes to destigmatizing plastic surgery.
One celeb who has always been confident in talking about her cosmetic procedures is Chie Filomeno. However, she still finds herself on the receiving end of criticism for getting her nose done.
“Women empowerment ba yan? Ine-encourage niyo mga kababaihan magparetoke buong mukha kesa i-embrace yung natural na ganda ng Pinay,” a netizen commented on her TikTok video.
While Chie says that she’s not *encouraging* anyone to go under the knife, she hopes that those who choose to do so won’t be degraded either.
“Parang ang sama sama naming tao for doing something that would make us happy na wala kaming inaapakang tao. I’m not saying that this is the right thing to do, pero sana lawakan pa natin yung understanding natin sa topic na to.”
It’s about time we let women do what makes them feel confident. You do you, Chie!
