Everyone is talking about the infamous Chocolate Hills Resort in Bohol after it was shown in a Facebook vlog uploaded on March 6, 2024. The video featured the resort as a "unique" spot where people could relax and chill in Bohol. Filipinos quickly questioned the existence of the resort in the natural monument.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Bohol local government had already issued official statements addressing the viral resort. Nevertheless, netizens are still disappointed with how things turned out. Several celebrities expressed their dissent against the Chocolate Hills resort. See their reactions below.

Anne Curtis
Among them was Kapamilya A-lister Anne Curtis. The actress expressed her disappointment with the issue. "Sad naman if they are allowing this so close to the beautiful natural wonders of our country *insert crying emoji*," she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Anne had also reposted Senator Nancy Binay's statement on the issue, as reported by ABS-CBN News. The statement demands a further explanation from DENR and the local government units on why the resort was granted access to the area in the first place.
Pauline Amelinckx
Miss Supranational Philippines 2023 Pauline Amelinckz also joined the conversation. Pauline, a proud citizen of Bohol, used her platform to spread awareness of why it is important to oppose the resort operation at the tourist spot. "It's part of the land we call home, part of the soul of our island. Now more than ever, we face the challenge of balancing progress with the protection and preservation of our natural landmarks," she wrote on Instagram.
The beauty queen encouraged everyone to take a stand in protecting the natural wonder, Chocolate Hills, and the pride the tourist spot brings to the Filipino people. "We all must play a part, big or small, to regenerate our earth, so it may regenerate us too."

Janno Gibbs
Meanwhile, singer-comedian Janno Gibbs had the most blunt reaction to the viral issue. He boldly posted on Instagram a photo of the said resort with the caption: "At binabuy na ang Chocolate Hills."
Other celebrities replied to Janno's post, like entertainment host Sam YG and news anchor Arnold Clavio. Arnold commented, "Langhiya! Hugas kamay ang DENR!!! Sana man lang kung isang poste pa lang ang naitatayo. Eh kumpleto na ng pasilidad! Wow!"

We'll keep watch of this developing issue, and update you as it happens. We hope this gets resolved because we would want to preserve the natural habitat in Chocolate Hills.
