If there's one couple whose relationship must have been written in the stars, it has to be Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado. The two tied the knot in November 2021 and welcomed their first child together, Baby Dylan, in April 2022. Apart from this, they're also happily co-parenting their kids from their previous relationships, Calix Andreas and Jazz.
But while things seem pretty rosy now for Dennis and Jennylyn, their relationship had a rocky beginning.
In an episode of GMA showbiz reporter Nelson Canlas' podcast Updated With Nelson Canlas, Dennis opened up about how grateful he is that he and Jennylyn ended up together after all these years. That's because they actually broke up for the first time in 2011 and made up in 2014.
While doing a show in London with Tom Rodriguez—his former co-star in the teleserye My Husband's Lover—Dennis texted Jennylyn to ask how she was doing.
"Siguro na-miss ko siya o ano," Dennis recalled. "Nag-reply naman siya tapos simula no'n, nagtuloy na ulit yung communication naming dalawa."
"'Yon yung nakakatuwa, na nangyari yung hindi mo akalain tapos 'di mo alam, siya pa rin talaga hanggang sa huli," Dennis added. Aww.
"Pareho kami. Never namin na-imagine na mangyayari 'to sa mga buhay namin, na magkakaroon kami ng happy ending. Actually, hindi pa happy ending, happy start."
