Sad news, everyone. Derek Ramsay just revealed that his wife, Ellen Adarna had a miscarriage.
"Noong nasa Spain kami, nalaman namin na preggy si Ellen. And then unfortunately, we lost the baby pero at least alam namin na hindi kami baog. First attempt pa lang naman," Derek shared in a press con for his upcoming horror film, Kampon, on December 11, 2023.
The 47-year-old actor also expressed his worries about being unable to have a child with Ellen. "Sa pelikula (namin) sabi ng mga doktor, baog, hindi makabuo. 'Yun 'yung problema naming mag-asawa sa film. To be honest, ako, worried ako kasi medyo tumatanda na rin tayo so akala ko baog din ako," he openly disclosed.
Of course, the once-expecting father felt downhearted after losing their first pregnancy together. However, Derek continues to move forward and prioritize their goal of adding another member to their family.
With that, Derek affirmed that he won't be as much as active in the showbiz industry in 2024. He wants to put all his energy and attention into having his first baby with Ellen.
"'Yun lang muna ang ifo-focus namin na we can get a full pregnancy right away. TV? Hindi (ako tatanggap). Film? Nag-uusap kami ni Direk if there's the right script, most definitely. Pero right now really focusing kami ni Ellen na magka-baby. 'Pag nangyari 'yun, medyo malabo na tatanggap ako ng project kasi very hands-on ako mag-alaga," he explained.
Ellen and Derek tied the knot in November 2021. This year, the couple prioritized taking care of their health to prepare for pregnancy, especially Ellen. She quit smoking and even removed her IUD (intrauterine device) in hopes of once again bearing a child.
“Next year na ako mabuntis […] One last na lang, and hopefully it’s a girl,” Ellen once shared.
Aside from their baby's gender, Ellen had also set a timeline for her future baby's delivery date. "Dragon baby kaya kailangang manganak ako after February 10 [2024] para year of the Dragon, so, naka-schedule 'yan," she declared.
