Dia Mate wasn't joking when she sang that during "oras ng ambagan," her gift would be kagandahan—because she clearly proved it (and even went beyond)! The Filipina beauty queen has brought her beauty to the international stage as she represents the Philippines in Miss Reina Hispanoamericana and won the Best In National Costume Award.

Miss Reina Hispanoamericana's official Instagram recently shared stunning photos of Dia receiving a special award during the national costume competition held in Porongo, Bolivia.

The national costume, designed by Ehrran Montoya, is titled Banaag. Inspired by Baroque churches in the Philippines, the costume is adorned with over 150,000 crystals, which mimics the beauty of stained glass windows.

Completing the look, she wears a salakot headpiece, a nod to Filipino heritage.

"Gold Mindanao Okkir patterns embellish the design, symbolizing indigenous artistry. A salacot headpiece, traditionally worn by farmers, adds an agricultural touch, while feather pen and lamp accessories celebrate the muses of Filipino poetry," Dia captioned on her Instagram post.

"The gown's train features the intricate craftsmanship of rattan furniture, honoring Filipino artisanal skill. This costume is a stunning tribute to the nation's rich cultural legacy," she added.

Dia Mate Represents The Philippines In Miss Reina Hispanoamericana

Dia's journey to Miss Reina Hispanoamericana began at Miss World Philippines 2024, where she earned the place to represent the country on the international stage. During the final Q&A portion of Miss World Philippines 2024, where she represented Cavite, Dia was asked: "Where do you get your strength from?"

She responded with a heartfelt and articulate answer, highlighting the strong family-oriented spirit present in Filipino households and her deep love for music. "I get my strength from my family. I grew up with an amazing family. They're here today on both sides of the arena, and they taught me a lot about kindness and growing up helping out in my community, and that’s what I did at Cribs Foundation teaching girls music," Dia expressed.

"And that's what I want to preach to others—that you can spread kindness. You don't have to have a loving family, you don't have to grow up well and privileged to spread kindness to the world. And if we're able to keep that motto within us, we will have a better world," she added.

As she sets off for Reina Hispanoamericana, Dia is aiming to bring home the Philippines' second crown, following Winwyn Marquez's historic win in 2017. This year's pageant will take place in Bolivia on February 9.
