This 2024, we might have gotten a new pair added to the list of our fave couples out there. EJ Obiena and his girlfriend, Caroline Joyeux just appeared in a media guesting together for the first time!
In a video uploaded by One PH, the couple was having fun in their first joint live interview. They talked about the beginnings of their relationship a.k.a EJ's first move on Caroline! EJ recalled how funny his "epic fail" meeting with Caroline went.
ICYDK, Caroline is a German triple jump athlete. Yes, they're both athletes—very much a power couple, right? The two met at a training camp as disclosed by Caroline. "Basically we met in a training camp. I'm also an athlete so I travel sometimes to different countries, to training camps for better weather because in Germany it wasn't always the best weather to train."
Caroline recounted how EJ went up to her and her coach asking if he could drive them to their destination, which was the bakery shop. "We just met there at the trek on the way, because I wanted to go to the bakery shop. And then he just came to me and my coach and asked 'Hey guys what are you going to do?'" Caroline said.
While Caroline was telling the short story, EJ was actually grinning beside her as he also remembered his side of the story. He adds to Caroline's remarks, "There's an epic fail in that story. I was like, 'Can I give you guys a ride?' [Apparently] Mas mabilis pang lakarin. Kanto lang pala..."
EJ further says, "Mas mahaba pa yung drive ko from my place to their place, kesa 'yung from their place to bakery," he recalls while laughing during their interview.
Aside from talking about the first time they met, the couple was more than game to answer questions about each other. Caroline described EJ as a very wise partner, and it's one of the things that she really likes the most about her beau. "He has two different sides and both are really helpful in life. One is really wise. He knows a lot of things and can help and has always the best approach to help you."
Caroline lets us in a secret though. She says EJ is actually also like a kid! "And on the other side, he's just like a kid sometimes. Brings the light, light to life. Like something easy, just not much thinking, just relaxing, and something fun," she revealed.
Smiling ear to ear, EJ then proceeded to express how grateful he was for his girlfriend. "She makes me wanna do better. I think that's definitely something I'm very grateful for," a smitten EJ confessed.

EJ and Caroline have been quite low-key about their relationship, yet they manage to maintain a healthy and steady connection, especially since they're both athletes.
In EJ's recent bout at the Paris 2024 Olympic games, Caroline was his #1 supporter. She was giving her all-out support as he placed fourth in the men's pole vault finals on August 6, 2024.
In a series of Instagram stories, Caroline posted moments showing EJ's exposure during the tournament. Caroline was in the stands, screaming and waving the Philippine flag for her boyfriend of almost four years.
