Like many of his peers in show business, Enrique Gil revealed he once thought of turning his back on the limelight.
During the press conference for his sexy comedy movie, I Am Not A Big Bird, Enrique spoke about the matter.
"I was at a point na gusto ko tahimik lang yung buhay ko," he said. "Iiwan ko yung showbiz. I just wanted to focus on me and my mom's business."
He later realized that he wasn't satisfied yet with his legacy in the industry.
"But you know, something did not sit well with me. I can't just leave the industry na wala pala akong naiwan more than the projects I've done."
I Am Not A Big Bird marks Enrique's comeback after his last project did not push through due to the pandemic. Fans will recall that he and his love team partner and girlfriend, Liza Soberano, were supposed to do a soap in 2020 entitled Make It With You. Rumor has it that they've ~broken up~, but Enrique has clarified that they "are good" and just busy with their respective projects.
"So, we just talked with some of the writers from ABS before and Ranvel and bigla na lang ito nabuo out of nowhere," he shared. "This is also the reason why I came back. Kahit siguro matanda na ako, kahit 'di na ako puwede umarte sa harap ng camera, nagbibigay pa rin ako kahit papa'no ng entertainment sa Filipino."
