Some love stories catch you by surprise, and Eugene Domingo's is one for the books.
While guesting on Boy Abunda's show Fast Talk, the actress revealed the turn of events before she met her Italian husband, Danilo Bottoni, in 2014. The comedienne, who has mostly kept her personal life private, also posted a photo with Danilo on IG.

Eugene shared that it was during the 2014 Udine Film Festival when she first met Danilo. But she had not expected to meet the love of her life at the time.
"I was alone. I was exhausted in general, in life," Eugene recalled. "I was already surrendering a life of like, you know, being single, or maybe I could enter the convent. ‘Yon na talaga iniisip ko."
Danilo introduced himself as a friend of Eugene's on Facebook, and she thought it was a pick-up line as she had no Facebook account. Turns out, Danilo was a film critic who had watched Eugene's movies such as Kimmy Dora, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, and Barber's Tales, and he wanted to interview Eugene.
"Habang kinakausap niya ‘ko, nagandahan ako sa mata niya," Eugene shared. "Tapos nakita ko na ang guwapo niya. Parang nagising ako, namulat akong ganyan, tapos parang gusto ko na siyang maging friend or makausap ko siya ng matagal. Tinawag na siya."
Having lost contact with Danilo, Eugene decided to pursue him. She wrote to his editor and asked that she thank Danilo for the interview.
"Kasi nung umuwi ako ng Italy na hindi ko na siya nakita, sabi ko, 'Yon na 'yon, e, papalampasin ko pa ba e naramdaman ko na?'"
