Last night, during the 40th Blue Dragon Film Awards in South Korea, actor Kim Woo Bin made his first public appearance since 2017 as an award presenter! The 30-year-old actor was out of the spotlight for more than two years, ever since he was diagnosed with nasopharynx cancer. In early 2019, he focused on his recovery.
On November 21, Woo Bin was greeted by applause as he appeared on stage. He bowed to greet the audience and said: "I'm very nervous. It's my first time greeting everyone in a long time, so I worried a lot about what I should say. Rather than anything else, the first thing I want to say is thank you."
"A few years ago, my health was very poor," he added. "But so many people cheered me on and prayed for me so that I could overcome it. I'm able to greet you in good health sooner because of that."
After his short speech, Kim Woo Bin then went on to present the Best Short Film award to director Jang Yoo Jin for Milk.
Awww, this is the *comeback* we've all been waiting for! We certainly missed him, and the Twitterverse could not contain its feels.
There's no doubt that some of us shed *literal* tears upon seeing him on that stage.
Believe me, we're not overreacting.
Yes, November 21 SHOULD be remembered as 'Kim Woo Bin Day.'
In August 2019, Korean fan sites reported that Woo Bin sent a coffee truck to the set of Chief Of Staff, a series that stars his girlfriend Shin Min Ah. The couple have been together for five years now.
Woo Bin's last project before his hiatus was the drama Uncontrollably Fond (2016), where he was paired with Bae Suzy. With Woo Bin's return to the industry, it's rumored that he'll be working on a comeback movie called Alien, which will be directed by Choi Dong Hoon.
