Naming a fandom is like naming a newborn baby. While it's exciting for fans of a rookie group, it's challenging for idols and their agencies to come up with one that will be witty and has a heartwarming meaning. Some groups would even ask their fans to send suggestions. Of course, who wouldn't want the best for the people who give them unconditional love and support? Also, they will be calling their fans such names for the rest of their career so they really can't afford to throw a bad name.
Right now, we can't deny that the power of fourth-generation K-pop artists is strong. As we are getting introduced to new groups, it also marks the birth of new fandom names. If you just entered the K-pop rabbit hole, you have probably heard some of them. For older fans who are not yet immersing themselves in fourth-generation acts, it's not too late to discover the groups and their fandoms because you never know—you might find yourself joining one!
Here are fourth-generation K-pop groups and their fandoms:
1. TXT - MOA
As one of the frontrunners of the fourth-generation K-pop, TOMORROW X TOGETHER or TXT has already set records after records since their debut with "CROWN" in 2019. With two full albums and multiple EPs, the quintet has already showcased their versatility and wide range of musicality.
Matching the group's well-thought-of name is their meaningful fandom name, MOA. It basically means Moments Of Alwaysness and it just shows how much the group values each moment they spend with their lovely fans.
2. Stray Kids - Stays
Four years into their career, Stray Kids has undeniably become a household name in the K-pop industry. Debuting at a time when most third-generation groups are still active, the group was able to keep up and made an impact on the scene.
The group's fandom name is called Stay and it was announced back in 2018 through a video with the text "Where Stray Kids Stay." The word itself is very much endearing because it's something that we would want to do with the people we love. There is no doubt that Stays have found reasons to stay with Stray Kids!
3. ITZY - MIDZY
Debuting in 2019, ITZY came out with their charismatic and empowering concepts that brought them to stardom. It's evident when they became the first-ever girl group to earn the Rookie Grand Slam title. These idols from JYP Entertainment have undeniably established themselves as hitmakers because they will not only make you sing along with their tracks—they will also leave you dancing to their choreography.
The "Dalla Dalla" singers named their fandom MIDZY and while it beautifully rhymes with the group's name, it has a deeper definition which means "to trust." It's touching to know that ITZY and MIDZYs' core is their trust for each other.
4. Treasure - Treasure Maker
Among the list of thriving fourth-generation K-pop groups is YG Entertainment's TREASURE. They entered the K-pop space on August 7, 2020 with "BOY" after their formation through the survival show, YG Treasure Box. The group is living up to their company's strong concept and image because the members of TREASURE are indeed powerful!
TREASURE's fans are known as Treasure Maker and are also referred to as Teume for short. Their official fan color is *drum rolls* sky blue!
5. ENHYPEN - ENGENE
Formed through the survival show, I-LAND, ENHYPEN debuted with "Given-Taken" in 2020 and since then, the group has reached multiple milestones from viral hits to album sales. The group is currently in the early stages of their career but a bright future is waiting for them.
ENHYPEN eventually named their fans ENGENE and it has two meanings behind it. According to the members, the first meaning is about their fans being the "engines" that let them grow and keep on going. The second meaning is that the group shares the same DNA with their fans to connect, discover and grow together, that's why they are ENHYPEN’s gene.
6. aespa - MY
Since their "Black Mamba" debut on November 17, 2020, aespa has brought us all in KWANGYA and made us jam to their hits like "Next Level" and "Savage." The group rose to fame because of their unique concept which served as the key to their massive success that earned them Daesang awards in their rookie era.
aespa's fandom name is called MY which means "the most precious friend." We'd definitely love to see idols treating their fans as their friends.
7. IVE - DIVE
Whether you are an avid K-pop fan or you accidentally encountered the TikTok trend, it's undeniable that IVE has made a strong debut with "ELEVEN." The successful debut has put these young girls from Starship Entertainment in to spotlight and many are now excited about their succeeding music releases.
Inspired by their group’' introduction, "DIVE into IVE!", the group named their fandom DIVE. If you happen to be one, for sure, you can hear Rei's voice inside your head saying *DIVEEEU!*
8. ATEEZ - ATINY
ATEEZ is an eight-member group from KQ Entertainment that made their debut in 2018. Known for their charismatic image, the group has achieved success both in the domestic market and international scene.
They asked their fans to send their fandom name suggestions and eventually, ATINY was chosen among other entries. The group announced it through VLive on November 17, 2018. The name is a result of the combination of two words: ATEEZ and destiny. Therefore, it's their fans' destiny is to meet ATEEZ!
