Just shy of four months after Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez both cleared the air on their supposed long-standing feud, the model is now reflecting on the "twisted and perpetuated narratives" that dominated headlines and social media to pit the two as ultimate enemies.
Earlier this week [June 29, 2023], Hailey appeared on Bloomberg's The Circuit to talk about how she started her skincare line, Rhode and hopes to differentiate herself from other celebrity beauty brands. Not only that, but speaking with interviewer Emily Chang, the 26-year-old also shared her experience with internet backlash and gossip.
Shutting down the drama discourse, Hailey said: "I don't think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez. This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women.
"It's about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous."
Hailey discussed her wishes on how the situation be dealt with.
"I think that it's an opportunity to really stand for bringing people together and not being ok with the kind of division that it caused because I'm not ok with the kind of division that it caused.
"I don't like this whole idea of team this person and team this person – I'm just not about that. I want to be able to bring people together," the beauty mogul shared.
"I don't want silly made-up drama to affect what I’m focusing and working on," Hailey said in reference to her business venture with Rhode. "There's narratives that exist for me that really hurt my feelings and make me really upset."
Concluding the conversation, Hailey summarized: "It's so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man. It's the world we live in, unfortunately."
As ever, both women have a lot of good stuff going on RN. Hailey continues to make majormoves with Rhode – which recently launched in the UK. Sel is, ofc, very much booked and busy. Whether she's working on her all-star beauty line, Rare Beauty, launching a cookware collab with Our Place, or modeling her pal Dua Lipa's Versace collection by the pool, the singer is never short of Instagram content.
