Over the past few weeks, netizens on social media have not stopped talking about Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber's alleged feud. Yesterday, Selena put an end to the ongoing drama by defending Hailey via a heartfelt statement on Instagram Stories.
"Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity," Selena wrote. "This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying."
"I've always advocated for kindness," the actress emphasized, "and really want this all to stop."

This morning, Hailey uploaded a lengthy statement of her own in response to Selena's post.
"I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I," Hailey started off with. "The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together."

"Things can always be taken out of context or construed differently than they were intended. We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself," she continued. "In the end, I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity, and there is always an opportunity to meet each other with more empathy and compassion."
In case you forgot, the two broke the internet in October 2022 when they were photographed in public together at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles (fans even have pics of them hugging!). The show of unity came just days after Hailey addressed rumors that she 'stole' her now-husband, Justin Bieber, from Selena.
"Plot twist," photographer Tyrell Hampton captioned his set of photos. Selena later spoke about the photos in an interview with Vulture, saying "it’s not a big deal." Referencing Selena on Alex Cooper's podcast, Call Her Daddy, Hailey went on to say: "I respect her; there's no drama personally."

Although she didn't mention Hailey by name, shortly after the podcast aired Selena went on TikTok live to talk about online hate. The actress told her fans: "I think some of the things that I don't even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting. And it's not fair, and no one ever should be spoken to in the manner that I've seen."
Selena and Hailey have both confirmed that they're 100% okay with each other, so it's a wrap, folks!
