For thousands of Filipino theater fans, their dreams have just come true: GMG Productions will be bringing Hamilton to the Philippines starting September 2023 at the Theatre at Solaire. ICYMI, GMG previously brought classic favorites The Sound of Music and Matilda the Musical, and the Philippine production will be Hamilton's official Asian premiere.
"We can’t wait for Filipino audiences to see this incredible show," said Bob Sewell, co-presentor of Hamilton in Manila and producer at GMG Productions.
In a teaser video announcing the Manila premiere, renowned songwriter and playright (and Hamilton creator) Lin-Manuel Miranda said: "Kamusta Pilipinas! This is Lin-Manuel Miranda and I'm so excited to officially announce that Hamilton will be making its Asian premiere in the Philippines! We have had so many incredible Filipino company members part of the Hamilton pamilya all over the planet, and now we get to bring the show to your beautiful country very soon. I can’t wait for you to see it! Make sure to sign up for the waitlist and stay tuned for ticket announcements coming soon. To all the Pinoy Hamilfans, mga kaibigan, we'll see you this September at The Theatre at Solaire. Tara! Mahal kita!"
So far, there's been limited information on the Philippine production—the cast and crew have yet to be confirmed, and people are still waiting for the show’s official dates to be announced. But we do know one thing: How to score pre-sale tickets!
