It’s official: we're heading back to Hogwarts! ICYMI, HBO is working on a brand-new Harry Potter series that promises to "stay true" to the books. And if you've ever wanted to see the books truly come to life chapter by chapter, this might just be the moment we've all been waiting for.
So far, here's everything we know:
Everything You Need To Know About HBO's Harry Potter TV Series
1. HBO just announced the cast members joining the Harry Potter series.
While casting for Harry, Ron, and Hermione is still under wraps (we can't wait!), we do have our first official look at the talented stars who will bring some of Hogwarts’ most legendary professors to life.
"We are happy to announce the casting of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon, and Paul Whitehouse to play Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, Quirrell and Filch," Executive Producer Francesca Gardiner announced.
"We're delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can't wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life," she added.
ICYDK, we're talking about major names: John who is cast as Albus is a six-time Emmy winner, two-time Tony Awardee, and Oscar and BAFTA nominee.

On the other hand, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall is a Tony, Golden Globe, and Olivier winner.

Meanwhile, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape is an Emmy and BAFTA nominee. Nick Frost, who will be playing the lovable half-giant Hagrid, is a BIFA-nominated actor.

2. J.K. Rowling is still an executive producer of the show.
Yup, J.K. Rowling is still an executive producer of the series. According to Warner Bros, this is to ensure the adaptation stays true to her original vision—something that longtime fans of the books will either be excited or skeptical about (we'll leave that part up to you).
The series will also be produced in collaboration with Bronte Film and TV, J.K.'s own production company, alongside Warner Bros. Television and Heyday Films (the same team behind the original movies.)
3. The show will start filming in the summer of 2025.
Production is officially set to begin later this year, with the series expected to premiere the following year on Max.
The series will stream exclusively on Max in all available regions, including the Philippines, where the platform is currently priced at PHP149/month or PHP1,040/year. You can subscribe via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Cignal, Smart, or PLDT Home.
