In the vast world of fashion, Heart Evangelista exists. She's someone who loves it, someone who enjoys the hustle and bustle of the industry to its core, and someone who just embodies fashion.
In a sit-down interview with Cosmopolitan Philippines right after her GMA Network contract signing on July 29, 2024, Heart graced us with her wits and her genuine thoughts on the fashion world and how she has been thriving in it.
"It's no longer about clothes," she began to tell us. It was her response when we asked about her thoughts on representing the Philippines during Fashion Weeks. As most of us know, Heart has been one of the Filipino headliners that made a name for their stunning and commendable appearances during the famous Fashion Weeks.
Although she started her journey because of her love for fashion, through the years, Heart opens up that Fashion Weeks are more than just that for her. "It kinda shifted, it kinda changed. [...] I feel it has a deeper meaning to me [now]."
For the fashion star, attending Fashion Weeks feeds her soul. After all, she's someone who puts in her heart and soul when preparing and when she's slaying the streets of Paris, Milan, New York, and more.
"It's not considered a job for me anymore. It is something that feeds my soul," she expounds. "It's really more of—like your clothes, it's really an accessory and the crowning glory of...who you are. Your heart, your soul."
After years of grinding and giving her best for several Fashion Weeks already, Heart has learned one ultimate lesson that she has actually lived by: to be true to herself. For Heart, people can get their hands on the latest designer items, but the sense of style is something special and unique for every person.
Heart tells Cosmo, "You know fashion is a general thing. But the sense of style is innate. So you always have to be yourself. It's a party and it's just celebrating yourself."
What's Heart Evangelista's next goal as a global fashion icon?
No one can deny that Heart is a successful celebrity. She's reached great heights in the course of her career as an actress, and more so as a person who had her eyes set on fashion and style. Even with everything, a girl can keep dreaming, right?
But for Heart, it's about time that she enjoys the moment now. There's no pressure and no more ultimate goals at this point. "I don't have any more boxes that I need to tick I feel like now. I'm just enjoying the seeds that I have already planted throughout the year. And I feel like this is the time that I truly deserve to just enjoy," Heart declared.
Heart has reached the point in her career where she enjoys work and leisure. And she's thankful she's thriving in a working environment that she loves. "It just so happened that it kind of belongs with one another because I love what I do."
Despite this, there will always be a time when she will feel the pressure and the stress. Heart divulges that she went through a lot of times that she'd let the pressure get to her, wanting people to accept her. But among those times, she would often "reset" herself as well—reminding herself not to let outside factors affect her desires and goals.
Heart shared, "I used to handle it poorly. You know when you're younger, you're pressured, you want people to accept you. But when you've reset yourself, I've reset myself many times, I do this for myself. And so you're not supposed to care about what other people would say. Enjoy it because you love it."
