On August 15, 2024, Panda, Heart's beloved aspin, trended on social media due to an interesting pet accessory. Heart posted a photo of her fur baby wearing a Bvlgari Serpenti Viper necklace. Made of 18k white gold, encrusted with full pavé diamonds, the necklace costs around P10 million pesos.
In a recent interview with 24 Oras, Heart said the photo is nothing more than her way of showing Panda some love. "I'm a very candid person so I’m very transparent. Honestly, I love my dogs. Anak ko 'yun eh."
It's also how she forwards her advocacy for aspins. Heart often works with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) for different projects that aim to bring care to strays, especially during times of calamity. She also doubled down on how this is not the first she's showered Panda with luxury accessories.
"Siya talaga kasi nga I wanted to set an example na ang aspin, they are a special kind of breed na sariling atin. So spino-spoil ko talaga siya. In fact, ang aking goal talaga ay makarating siya sa Paris," said Heart.
Panda's dedicated Instagram account shows Heart takes humor in how Panda and Heart's other pet Shutiful love the same brands as their furmom does. Panda wears picks from Fendi, Prada, and Dior.
On Naysayers And Fighting Back
In the same interview, Heart insisted there is no hidden meaning to Panda's accessory of the moment.
"Well, the necklace has been mine…since what…pandemic times so I honestly don’t see anything…I feel like more than anything it should be an inspiration that, you know, you should treat the people around you the same. They deserve best. So, honestly, I don’t really feel like there is anything that I should do and not do especially I do own the necklace," Heart emphasized.
Either way, Heart declares how she handles detractors through an animal-related metaphor. "Yes, at the end of the day, you know, kailangan naman din minsan kailangan palaban ka din. Alam ko na rin kung paano kapag 'di ka masayadong palaban talagang natatapakan ka so I bite now in a very sweet way, pero masakit."
In May of last year, it is important to note that the same necklace became a point of interest during Heart's interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda. She stated that the necklace reminds her to be wary of so-called snakes.
"Isa siyang ahas to remind us na madaming ahas...it's a reminder that they can be friends too and wear them as your accessory kapag kinatay mo na sila," she stated when Boy complimented her necklace.
