If you've been painstakingly curating your Instagram grid like a lot of content creators (millennials) these days, try not to cry at this potential new update.
Those who color-coordinate their photos may still be safe, but people who regularly post according to the rule of three—looking at you, James Reid—might be totes annoyed.
Since the beginning of time (Instagram), the app has been functioning with a three-across grid; but random users have noticed that their accounts have changed into four-across grids without warning. And people are not pleased:
Is everyone else's Instagram doing this?! My whole grid looks off now! Yo @instagram can we discuss this? pic.twitter.com/SPIxGNtVI8

Hey @instagram, people have spent years perfecting their feeds. No 4 grid update please. pic.twitter.com/hPuCJthKb6

My instagram now shows my feed as a 4x4 grid. I can feel the internet getting ready to explode. pic.twitter.com/bBDrFl0cod

Though there hasn't been an official announcement about this feature, it's not uncommon for IG to test updates on selected users before making it available to the rest of the world. So just sit back, relax, and wait for your curated dreams to shatter. (JK, it's just Instagram and you're a resilient millennial; you'll adapt.)
