On Tonight With Boy Abunda, Isabelle Daza reveals how she helps her kasambahay save money by doubling their savings in the bank account she opened for them at the end of the year. “It helps them have a target. I want to help them reach their goals.”

The actress also talks more about the kasambahay contract that she posted on Instagram Stories last month. Upon husband Adrien Semblat’s suggestion, she drew up a contract listing down their deliverables, key performance indicators, and rest time, among other things. “It protects both parties. So you can’t get mad at them for forgetting your charger when it’s not their job. I told them, ‘Listen, I can’t fire you just because I’m in a bad mood or I’m hungry.’”

How did their helpers react to the contract? “They were very touched because they didn’t feel that they deserved one.” Isabelle says, “People are scared to lose their jobs. I want them to have something that will help them sleep better at night.”

The contract also states that they are entitled to rest days. “Tayo nga napapagod working five times a week—why do we expect them to be in our house seven days a week?”

To get to know her helpers better, Isabelle also had them fill out a questionnaire about what makes them happy, what makes them sad, and the like. “It’s not just about money—it’s about EQ and the work environment. It’s about treating people well and having humanity.”
