If you're one of the many people who walked ran to the theater to watch IT: Chapter Two, you're probably wondering if there's any hope whatsoever for another installment in this franchise. Will you ever get to see another movie with Bill Skarsgård dressed up as a scary clown?! TBD.

Here's everything we know so far, but friends, it's not looking good.

There's only one book.

In case you didn't know, the IT movies were based on the Stephen King book of the same name. For the sake of the films, the creators broke the narratives into two movies: one focusing on the kids, one focusing on the adults.

They already stretched the material into two movies instead of just one, so it'd be pretty tricky to stretch it into a third, right?

The director said this is the conclusion.

Aside from the obvious problem that there's...no more book to work with, director Andy Muschietti told Digital Spy before the second film's release that this feels like the end of the series.

"I think it's a good thing. This is the conclusion of the story between the Losers versus Pennywise. This is the end. In the end, there's a conclusion, there's a resolution," he said.

Okay, yeah, that seems kinda final? I mean, he's the director, so he would definitely know.

BUT...

As Digital Spy pointed out, the movies didn't really cover the origin of Pennywise, or IT, which was his name in the book.

"Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It has been on Earth for millions of years. He's been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material," Muschietti said.

So maybe, if we're REALLY lucky, someone will make a prequel or something. But, TBH, it looks pretty unlikely.
