January 1, 2024 marked the start of a new year, but it was *extra special* for a certain actor's fans: the OG Dao Ming Si aka Jerry Yan also celebrated his birthday! Most will remember having a huge crush on the actor, whose popularity spiked after starring in much-loved Taiwanese dramas Meteor Garden (2001) and Meteor Garden II (2002). He recently starred in 2023 Chinese drama Forbidden Flower.
In the first series of photos from his birthday photoshoot, Jerry greeted fans on Instagram a Happy New Year ("Wish everyone has a prosperous 2024"). Clad in a pristine white suit jacket paired with a black button-up (we're *dying* over the open collar), the heartthrob proved he's still got that It Factor by striking pose after pose. THAT SMILE!!!
Jerry also said "Hello 2024" in a second post on Instagram. This time he sported a black-on-black 'fit (minus the jacket) and kept his gaze focused on the camera (staring straight into our hearts! *winks*). We can't help but feel kilig—which is your favorite set of pics?
When Annyeong Oppa, a dedicated Facebook community for fans of Korean artists, published a birthday greeting for Jerry Yan, they captioned it, "Yung kahit andami na naming oppa bababalik at babalik parin sayo. Jerry Yan at 47 years old!!!!!!!! Lakas makabampira ng vibes!!!!!!"
As of writing there are nearly 360 comments under the post all professing their enduring love for the OG crush ng bayan. "Pumila po ng maayos. Salamat," one netizen joked. It's not the first time the internet thought Jerry was a vampire due to his timeless appearance. When the trailer for Count Your Lucky Stars first dropped in 2019, even Pinoy celebs like Maine Mendoza couldn't stop fangirling over him!
Fun fact: In the series Jerry stars opposite Shen Yue—and the actress plays Shan Cai, Dao Ming Si's (Dylan Wang) love interest in the 2018 Meteor Garden remake!
Jerry is also former member of the boyband F4, producing hit songs such as "Can’t Lose You," "Ask For More," and "At the First Place." We have always wished for a reunion (their last performance as a group was in 2013), and Jerry and Vanness Wu made our dream come true in 2022. How? The two Taiwanese stars guested on the variety program Welcome Back To Sound. "I think this show has brought me closer to him," Jerry shared. During the show they also revealed that they actually had a get-together several ago at Vanness' house. Yup, including Vic Chou and Ken Chu! Aww, our F4 fangirl hearts!
