The Miss Universe Organization just launched the new crown that Miss Universe 2024 will soon wear. They unveiled the Light of Infinity crown in Mexico city on Wednesday, with this edition's crown sponsor, Jewelmer. And pageant fans all over the world are already raving.
How The Filipino Miss Universe Crown Was Made
The new Light of Infinity crown, or the Lumière de l'Infini, is the historic first crown made from the Philippines to take the Miss Universe stage. The crown by Jewelmer is a special crown adorned by the Philippines' national gem, the rare golden South Sea Pearl. In an Instagram post, the international luxury brand wrote, "A miracle created in 377 steps over five years, this treasure is brought to life by the most pristine environment and utmost human care. This precious gem embodies the brilliance of our co-existence with Mother Nature. As long as there is a pearl, there is life shining through every moment."
They added, "The pinnacle of savoir-faire, this one-of-a-kind creation was handcrafted by Filipino mastercraftsmen, utilizing the traditional techniques practiced in Place Vendôme, the center of elegance in France." Place Vendôme is a city square in Paris that houses luxury designer brands.
This collaboration between the Miss Universe Organization and Jewelmer also made it just in time for the Filipino-French house's 45th year anniversary. In a press release, Jewelmer also wrote that, "by crowning Miss Universe 2024 in golden South Sea pearls, her natural elegance will captivate imaginations throughout the universe."

Jewelmer CEO Jacques Christophe Branellec was at the crown's grand unveiling on November 13 in Mexico City. Previously, he made an Instagram post sharing the exciting news, writing, "Para sa bayan."
The History Of Miss Universe Crowns
The Light of Infinity is the thirteenth known crown in the 73-year history of the prestigious pageant. It is also the fifth crown to come from Asia. These were the Mikimoto crown made in Japan (last worn by our very own Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray), the special CAO Fine Jewelry crown worn by Dayana Mendoza in 2008 from Vietnam, and Lebanese family-owned luxury jeweler Mouwad's crowns: the Power of Unity from 2022 and the Force for Good from 2023.

Among the other past crowns the Miss Universe organization also saw were: the Armi Kuusela Crown in 1952, the Christiane Martel Crown in 1953, the Star of the Universe crown from 1954 to 1960, and the 10th Anniversary Crown from 1961 to 1962. The first Filipina Miss Universe Gloria Diaz was able to wear the Miss Crown during her reign in 1969. Meanwhile, Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran donned the New Miss Crown.

Diamond Nexus Lab created the Peace Crown which was worn by the reigning queens from 2009 to 2013. It was the winner of the online poll created by Miss Universe and the crown sponsor. Its other contenders were the Unity and Hope crowns. The Peace crown was adorned with synthetic rubies, to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS. At the same time, Diamond Nexus Lab was the first eco-friendly official jeweler the Miss Universe organization saw.

Of course, who could forget the crown made by Diamonds International Corporation that our very own Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach wore? It's reported to be valued at $300,000.
